Site Review: Kyspeaks.com/Paultan.org/Redmummy.com

When it comes to comparing the three blogs in terms of aesthetics and layout, personally I can see that Kyspeaks.com looks the most pleasing to the eyes due to its minimalistic colour scheme and also the placement of its widgets and links, all of which are located where the average user would expect them to be. The website also uses a variety of pictures as an extension to further depict the daily ongoing of the author to prevent the readers from getting bored reading a wall of text, and some of those pictures are there because the article is sponsored by a company. A picture says a thousand words after all. Videos are also posted up by the author during certain product reviews to give the viewer a more detailed look at the product.

Paultan.org on the other hand is also organized fairly well, the colour scheme is pleasant to the eyes and is not contrasting, and the entire webpage is neatly divided into two separate columns with all the main attractions of the blog located in a header accompanied by a pop out box for each category when moused over. Overall the design isn’t too complicated neither it is too simple, it’s just the right balance that works and it helps to attract the readers to come back. Various photos related to automobiles are posted up to give the reader a closer look of the nooks and crannies of the particular vehicle, which is crucial because it has the potential to make or break potential buyers.

Lastly, redmummy.com is unfortunately the least attractive amongst the three blogs. First of all is the colour scheme, dark red, which in my honest opinion is a little distasteful, compared to the lighter and soothing colours that are featured in the other two blogs. Then there’s also the font colour, which looks a little awkward when it appears in white especially when contrasted on a dark red background. Most importantly, there is the myriad of advertisements scattered all over the blog, which makes you feel slightly uncomfortable as you visit that site because you would have to be very cautious to not accidentally click any of those suspicious looking advertisements which might redirect you to a website that can be potentially malicious to your computer and your privacy. Probably to put it simply, going through that blog would literally be like threading through a mine field. Photos are aplenty in this blog as the author uses them to help elaborate on her happening lifestyle, but more notably when the author is being sponsored by a certain company to advertise their product.
